Longmont Colorado Economic Council and Others Seek New Business at Chicagos CoreNet Global Conference
The CoreNet Global Summit -- in Chicago, from Saturday, May 15 to Wednesday, May 19 -- aims to educate members about the latest corporate real estate trends. Business recruitment is also a top goal for some conference attendees. Representatives from Chicago, Longmont, Colo., and elsewhere will be at the conference to talk with expanding and relocating companies about what their regions have to offer. Longmont, for example, hopes to entice companies by showing the advantages of being in a county that has the highest concentration of technology workers per capita in the United States.

More than 3,000 leaders of the world's corporate real estate industry are scheduled to gather this week in Chicago for the CoreNet Global Summit and Longmont Area Economic Council (LAEC) CEO John Cody wants to take full advantage of his time there.
We will be trying to make contact with as many real estate executives of major corporations and site selection consultants as possible," he said. Some of them have already attended site selection conferences held by the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation and so we hope to build on that initial contact."
Longmont is 45 minutes north of downtown Denver. The LAEC and Metro Denver EDC often work together. The Metro Denver EDC coordinated the CoreNet Conference trip and is paying for the promotional costs.
We are planning an invitation-only reception in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of CoreNet, a booth at the trade show, and we have set up meetings with advanced technology companies," Cody said.
With the high concentration of engineers in Boulder County, and our proximity to the University of Colorado at Boulder and Colorado State University, we have an advantage over many other parts of the country when it comes to attracting such companies," he added.
Boulder County, home to the cities of Boulder and Longmont, has the highest per-capita concentration of software developers in the country. Longmont itself is home to 20 software companies, 20 semiconductor companies and a host of biotech and other tech-related businesses.
Cody will be hard at work over the next few days letting relocation and expansion decision-makers know that Longmont is where ideas become products.
