David Aquilina and his Client, HealthPartners, Win Clarion Merit Award

The Association for Women in Communications (AWC), for the Second Consecutive Year, Honors Trio of Twin Cities Communications Professionals for Achievement in Public Relations

MINNEAPOLIS - May 20, 2004 - The Association for Women in Communications (AWC), Twin Cities Chapter, held its annual Crystal Clarion Awards banquet on Wednesday evening, May 19. David Aquilina, strategic storyteller, in collaboration with Sara McFee and Chris Reese of HealthPartners' corporate communications department, won a Merit Award for Excellence in Communications. Their award-winning entry, HealthPartners: Quality Leader," was honored in the category of Ongoing Marketing or Public Relations Campaigns for Non-profits. The campaign was recognized for achieving 12 article placements in national health care journals in 2003 on the accomplishments of Pursuing Perfection," HealthPartners strategic quality improvement initiative.

Since May 2002, the ongoing campaign has attained a total of 33 major national placements (including publication of 15 bylined articles). This month, Financially Rewarding Physicians for Quality: HealthPartners Model" is the cover story in Group Practice Journal. And HealthPartners is also featured in three new articles on electronic medical records in the May issues of HealthLeaders, Health Data Management and For the Record.

The Crystal Clarion Awards competition recognizes superior work from all communications fields. The competition is open to women and men, individuals and organizations. Entries are judged against the work of peers in size and budget to ensure that everyone from the largest advertising or public relations agency to the smallest non-profit or individual freelancer is fairly considered. This years Twin Cities entries were judged by communications professionals in the Seattle and Milwaukee Chapters of AWC. They evaluated entries for substance, style, originality and achievement of stated objectives.

David Aquilina is a seasoned communications professional in Minneapolis. He has won numerous awards for excellence in media relations and article writing. David A" teams up with a select set of non-profits and growing companies to craft their messages and tell their stories to the audiences whose decisions and actions impact their success. In addition to HealthPartners, his clients include QRS Diagnostic, StatusOne (an American Healthways company), Creative Woodwork International and nParallel. When not telling stories, David goes fishing.
