AKC Companion Animal Recovery & NC SART Sign Memorandum Of Understanding

First of its Kind Partnership to Provide Support to Prevention and Recovery Efforts Across North Carolina

(PRWEB) May 19, 2004 -- In the first agreement of its kind, the AKC Companion Animal Recovery program and the North Carolina State Animal Response Team (NC SART) organization have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in an effort to collaborate on prevention, recovery and response activities at the state and county level. With more than 2.3 million pets enrolled, AKC Companion Animal Recovery hosts the nations largest database for the identification and recovery of lost pets. Its staff of highly trained recovery coordinators leads the industry in recoveries, averaging a recovery every nine minutes. NC SART leads the nation in providing prevention, response and recovery for animal emergencies.

NC SART anticipates that its partnership with AKC Companion Animal Recovery will yield important results by utilizing the talents and experiences of state and regional veterinarians. "This partnership will enable us to leverage these talents and attract new ones," said Jodi Jackson, Director and spokesperson for the NC SART, who will also lead the initiative efforts in other states.

"One of the most compelling factors behind our choice of business partners is our desire to work with those who are driven to provide public service," says Dr. Carmen Battaglia, President and CEO of AKC Companion Animal Recovery. This relationship with NC SART is a natural fit, with AKC Companion Animal Recoverys respected position in the community of companion animals and its initiatives that are at work in all 28 veterinary medical colleges."

AKC Companion Animal Recovery continues to scout the US for veterinarians and shelters as well as dog and cat organizations that wish to take advantage of this newest approach to the prevention, response and recovery of lost pets.

AKC Companion Animal Recovery plans to continue its investment in new technologies that make the enrollment and recovery process less costly and more efficient for its customers. As a not-for-profit arm of the AKC, AKC Companion Animal Recovery focuses on reducing costs, increasing services and accomplishing its goal of eliminating the lost pet signs from the nations communities.
