The Kelvin Robinson Foundation Announces Their Fire Safety Kids Day Event Will Be Held on Saturday July 17, 2004

The Kelvin Robinson Foundation is inviting residents and visitors of all ages to join them on Saturday July 17, 2004 in Central Park for the Fire Safety Kids Day event

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 21, 2004 -- This Fire Safety Kids Day event is suitable for singles, families, and people of all ages," says Camelia Robinson, President of the Kelvin Robinson Foundation. Our primary objective is to reach out to the public with information they can use to stay safe from fire, but we want them to have fun too."

The Kelvin Robinson Foundation is hosting the event with support from the Harlem Service Center of the American Red Cross in Greater New York., State Farm Insurance, and the FDNY Fire & Life Safety City of New York.

Attendees can look forward to the Harlem Service Center, American Red Cross providing information about first aid/CPR training, emergency preparedness information/brochures and essential guidelines for parents to help their families become better prepared in case of an emergency. In addition, there will be games and activities for children.

State Farm Insurance is giving childrens parents an opportunity to have a child ID kit made, complete with their childs photo and fingerprint inside a booklet in case of a emergency, along with presentations/information pamphlets on various child safely topics.

The event is free and open to the public, and all will be encouraged to attend. So many children are hurt or killed each year by accidents caused by fires that are easily preventable, so well be focusing our outreach on home fire safety," Camelia adds. The goal of this event is to educate the residents, especially children, of New York City about Fire Safety Awareness and how to minimize losses associated with a fire."

If the public takes away nothing else from this, we want them to remember three things: every family must have a working smoke alarm in their home; they need to plan and practice a home fire drill; and should a fire start, they need to get out and stay out, until a fire official says its safe for them to go back inside."

In addition to the fun, everyone will be able to participate and get hands-on practice in smoke alarm installation and fire-escape planning in the mobile fire safety house, a mocked-down, split-level version of a private home on a trailer. Infused with theatrical smoke to simulate real-life fire conditions, participants will be able to practice effective fire evacuation techniques in a realistic setting provided by the FDNY Fire & Life Safety.

Children can also meet HotDog, the FDNY fire safety mascot. HotDog is a big, lovable dalmation who loves to teach children about Fire Safety and how to crawl low under smoke. If by having the Fire Safety Kids Day event we can save the life of just one child this year, then this fair has been worthwhile," says Camelia Robinson.
