"Write Screenplays," called "exceptional" by Scr(I)pt Magazine, combines the basic rules of storytelling and structure with creative writing exercises designed to act as a "writers gym." Ackerman uses material covered in his popular UCLA class, a course that has nurtured the talents of successful writers including Pamela Gray ("A Walk on the Moon"), Nicholas Griffin ("Matchstick Men") and Sacha Gervasi ("The Terminal" and the upcoming "The Hypnotist," to star Jim Carrey).
