First Woman Receives Institute Lifetime Achievement Award

The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Marsha Denice Lewin, the first woman ever to receive the award. This Lifetime Achievement Award, only the fifth in the nearly 40-year history of the Institute, is given in recognition of outstanding service and exceptional contribution over a sustained period of years to the management consulting profession.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) May 22, 2004 --- On May 3, 2004, the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Marsha Denice Lewin, the first woman ever to receive the award. This Lifetime Achievement Award, only the fifth in the nearly 40-year history of the Institute, is given in recognition of outstanding service and exceptional contribution over a sustained period of years to the management consulting profession.

Marsha Lewin is president of Marsha D. Lewin Associates, a management consulting firm that has managed, designed and implemented many innovative information systems including the nationwide networks which monitored the reactivations of the Battleships Missouri and Wisconsin for the US Navy and prototype applications for the stock brokerage industry. A recipient of the West Coast University Nason Achievement Award for outstanding alumni, Ms. Lewin is a former practice management editor of the Journal of Management Consulting, co-author of Software Project Management Step by Step, and author of The Overnight Consultant (a Book-of-the-Month Club main selection in its Money Books Club); The Consultants Survival Guide (a Book-of-the-Month Club featured selection), and Better Software Project Management: A Primer for Success.

Ms. Lewin holds an AB degree from Barnard College, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science summa cum laude from West Coast University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine Universitys Presidential/Key Executive program. She is a Certified Computer Professional, Certified Management Consultant, and since 1977 she has been an active member and former officer of many professional and civic organizations: including the Construction Management Association of America, the Institute of Management Consultants, the Association of Management Consultants, the Council of Consulting Organizations, and the West Coast University Alumni Association.
