2003 Best Concert Of The Year Award

2003 Best Concert Of The Year Award

New York City (PRWEB) May 23, 2004 -- The 2003 Best Concert Of The Year " award goes to Crosby Stills & Nash at Lincoln Center - Was it the band, the venue or the fans? We're thinking it had to have been a combination of all three that made the Crosby Stills & Nash gig at Lincoln Centers Avery Fisher Hall in New York City (produced by veteran promoters Antonio Coppola & Jordan Belkin and their firm Archer Lyon Entertainment) such a champion in this race. Die-hard fans who attended the show, (proceeds of which went in part to benefit the fight against Diabetic Retinopathy), appreciated the rare intimate setting of the sold out crowd of just over 2,700. The band was in rare form that Friday, February 7th, 2003, and nobody, but nobody, does an encore like these guys. The concert at Avery Fisher Hall which began with "Carry On" and ended with "Woodstock", saw the crowd on their feet for the entire show ! There was also an accapella rendition of "My Country Tis of Thee" which balanced nicely with the anti war theme that encapsulated the evening. The acoustics were fantastic. Stills' guitar work was excellent, his tribute to Buffalo Springfield was one of the best songs of the night.

There is a sense in this concert of the mutual respect amongst the three musicians after years of separation and an outward comfortableness that appears greater than when they first got back together again.

David Crosby provided powerful vocals on "Deja Vu" and "Guennivere". His repartee with Nash added to the overall feel of the evening. "Wooden Ships" was another high point for him. The keyboard, drums, and bass all played with great energy and complemented the front men. My take on this concert was that there is a new energy in the group that makes it as relevant today as it was to us in the 60's and 70's. Maybe the real Woodstock Generation can still have an impact on what is happening now, instead of being seen as in a time capsule. Anyway you slice it, CSN at Lincoln Center, was indeed the best concert of the year. For more info visit CSNs official website at www.crosbystillsnash.com
