Texas mystery author to write about breast cancer experience

Cindy Daniel ventures outside her fictional town of Destiny, Texas to share how her breast cancer experience affected her teenage daughter

DALLAS / FT. WORTH, TX (PRWEB) May 25, 2004 --In her debut novel, Death Warmed Over, readers got their first glimpse of a dream that belonged to author, Cindy Daniel. It was a dream she envisioned after scaling stumbling blocks that many would have found too high to climb. A divorce survivor raising teenagers alone, Daniel heard those breath-robbing words no person on the planet ever wants to hear.

You have cancer," the doctor said.

It was a terrifying blow. But she didnt quit. She never even slowed down. She fought breast cancer and won, married the man of her dreams, Jeff Daniel, and never looked back. She said she began writing in December of 2001 just to see if she could do it.

It didnt take long to find out she could. Daniel completed the manuscript for Death Warmed Over in May 2002 and was offered a three-book-deal by Quiet Storm Publishing in November 2002.

With that accomplishment providing confidence and proving to be the catalyst - Cindy and her daughter Robin have teamed up to write about the experiences and affects of breast cancer. A book they hope will provide support and resources for teenage girls who are fighting their mothers breast cancer battle.

Daniel says, No one prepared me for what my daughter was going through. I spent over a year and seven surgeries trying to hang on to my life, to suddenly realize I was losing my daughter to depression."

As they approached the final segment of their writing project -- they enlisted help from the ones they hoped to reach: the teenage girls. Through various writing and reading internet groups they sent out questionnaires to be answered by young women who were in their teens at the time of their mothers diagnosis. The response was overwhelming. The results of the questions, in addition to many comments from these respondents will be included in the new book.

The next step is finding a publisher, but Daniel feels the merits of the book will entice many publishers and that it will be under a contract soon. She plans to donate a portion of each book sold to benefit a local breast cancer foundation.
