Summer Camp isn't just for kids anymore.

Shaffer's High Sierra Camp offers Mom's Camp. A chance for moms to get away from it all and experience the magic of summer camp, without the kids!

Novato, CA (PRWEB) May 25, 2004 -- For one weekend in mid-August (August 13th-15th, 2004,) a children's summer camp in Northern California will be all grown up. While millions of parents see the benefits of a camp experience through their children, moms who want to truly get in touch with their inner camper can spend 3 days at Shaffer's High Sierra Camp in the Tahoe National Forest, 45 minutes north of Truckee. Scott and Lisa Shaffer opened their camp in 2000 and welcome up to 60 kids to camp each session. But they quickly saw the potential for their non-competitive wilderness adventure program to provide a supportive and inspiring environment for busy moms. I think we as women find that its a big challenge to remember who we were before we assumed all our many roles and titles," says Lisa Shaffer. This weekend is a chance to remember what is was like to play and have fun, while also helping Moms relax and connect in a way that they just can't do at home."

Among the many activities planned are two that the Shaffers feel define their Mom's Camp. On the first day of the weekend, Moms are invited to participate in a team building challenge. We see how well these type of camp activities work with children and we want to give Moms the chance to experience the high of overcoming fun challenges in a supportive environment," notes Shaffer. The second activity in which all Moms participate is a session with life coach Barbara Cochran. According to Scott Shaffer, Having Barbara at Mom's camp offers our 'campers' the chance to check in with a caring professional. The serenity of the Sierra location adds a new dimension to the insights she can offer."

In addition Moms can hike, swim, paddle a canoe, take a high ropes course challenge, or just relax with new friends. How about a massage? Perhaps the camp website offers the most appealing come on to prospective campers: There's no taking care of anyone but you. This is YOUR weekend." That is a message that will resonate with busy women everywhere and Mom's camp is a program that will be the highlight of the summer for the Shaffers and their lucky campers.
