Mithras provides Guidance on Next-Generation 3D-Graphics to Samsung
Mithras presents its strategic recommendations to Samsung's Research & Development on marketing future generations of multimedia enabled mobile devices, applications and content.
Seoul, Korea (PRWEB) May 26, 2004 -- Mithras Consulting Group presented its final report on The Impact and Opportunities of Next Generation 3D-Graphics" to senior members of Samsungs Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT). Mithras brought together a team of experts from Europe, India, China, Japan and Korea to assess the technological impact of 3D-graphics and rich media content and to evaluate associated business opportunities. SAIT is the central R&D facility for Samsung Group and is engaged in design and development of future generation technologies in materials, communication, display, network, and consumer electronics.
Samsung elected Mithras from a pool of proposals specifically due to its diverse international perspective on the subject and its unique ability to bring together a global network of consultants. Mahnjin Han, responsible project manager at SAITs Multimedia Lab states: "Mithras is a small but very effective consulting group with talented experts distributed around the world where the IT market is under the spotlight. They are very quick in understanding what we want and what we need and we are more than satisfied with the answers they have given us. I think that the words passionate, straightforward and innovative best fits their style." Mithras presented strategic recommendations, which offer a truly global view on the development of next generation hardware and software graphics technology. Leadership in 3D will be a critical success factor for companies, which are engaged in businesses related to mobile devices, applications, connectivity and content. Next-generation graphics applications, which were historically reserved for expert users and high-end workstations, will become available to new user groups. Advances in processor technology, algorithms and networks will bring more realistic visualization and interactivity to professionals and consumers alike.
Samsung is well positioned to offer immense customer value through digital convergence, especially in emerging markets such as China", comments Mithras Partner and Project Manager, Sridhar Vedala. Initially the market would demand affordable end user devices for mobile communication. But in Asia, where handheld consumer electronics are viewed as objects of prestige, advanced features such as media capabilities in wireless technology will be an important factor in any companys positioning. We see hardware producers forming alliances with media companies and starting their own content business", remarks Europe-based Mithras Partner Joachim Geerling. It will be essential for these companies to focus on their core strengths and forge relationships, which will complement their strategy in the respective markets."
Mithras Korea President Hae Seung Jung points out," Samsungs SAIT is uniquely positioned to allow its affiliated companies to benefit from state-of-the-art multimedia graphics technology in devices, applications and platforms. We are delighted to work with Samsung and to have one of the most recognized consumer brands as our clients". Samsung and Mithras will make part of the results of their analysis publicly available in order to further promote 3D multimedia technology, drive the creation of media rich content and encourage the development of new applications.
