The Jersey Cynder officially got the o.k. last week to visit the area schools in Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ., in what could be the beginning of a great relationship.

Cynder Owner/President, Jermaine Sanders was relieved to hear that the Jersey Cynder will be coming back to his roots spreading some cheer and relaying the importance of reading. I am very excited to give back to my hometown in such a way that, getting these kids at an early age, will not only add to the extra values being instilled at home, but the positive message that reading has on them and their everyday lives. The key is getting them at this critical age and displaying the importance of reading, says Sanders. We need to encourage them more and by coming into the schools, its an extra bonus for children to realize that reading is of an importance.

The Cynder look to start visiting several area schools in the month of June. They will start at the Cynder Kings alma mater, P.S. #23 on Romaine Avenue in Jersey City.

Some of the grades they will visit are grades 3-5 and will cover such topics as: IOTAS program-(It only takes a spark)the importance of reading, campaign against drugs and sportsmanship. They will also have some give-a-ways on hand for students as well.

This is the first stop for the Cynder, but come Fall of 2004, they will increase the program with
additional topics of discussion, prizes and awards for academic achievement.

The Jersey Cynders long awaited 2004 inaugural season", will take place this summer. The first game is July 2004.
