Homebase Ltd. Converts their File Distribution Management System to TPS(R)'s NetWork File Manager

Homebase Ltd. was forced to convert from a mainframe-based file distribution system to a Windows-based system in a relatively short time frame. The new system would have to handle 300 retail stores supporting the IBM 4690 and Microsoft Windows environments.

Wallington, Surrey, UK (PRWEB) May 28, 2004 --- Homebase Ltd., a leading Home Improvements retailer with nearly 300 stores in the UK, was faced with having to convert from a mainframe-based file distribution management system to a Windows-based one in a relatively short time frame. To accomplish this, TPS(R)s NetWork File Manager was chosen.

Homebase, having been spun-off from its original parent company, major UK food retailer JS Sainsbury, had to find a file distribution management package to replace the one that had been running on their parent companys mainframe. After looking at several packages, it was decided to do an in-depth investigation of three packages. The key selection factors were support for the IBM 4690 and Microsoft Windows environments, minimal training, and the fastest means of implementation.

Dealing with a company in the US was a concern with regards to support. However, with Sol-Tec, one of TPS(R)s resellers in the UK, providing first line of support, this has not been a problem. The Support Group has been extremely responsive and supportive of the few issues that have been encountered."

Homebase was faced not only with the conversion, but also with a time constraint.
