hearing, the power of perfect grammar or the ability to make exact change, what would you do? Of course, you’d try to become a super-hero like your idols Batman, Spider-Man and X-Men. But, let’s face it, with powers like those you’ll never be more than a sidekick. That means an after-school schedule filled with super errands, super laundry and super car-washing.

It’s tough to want to save the world.

That’s the dilemma that awaits Guy Martin in "Sidekicks 3: Attack of the Mole Master," the new super-hero adventure from New York-based publisher Little, Brown and Company. Written by television writers Dan Danko and Tom Mason, "Sidekicks" follows the hilarious misadventures of young Guy as he struggles to save the world, get a date, finish his homework and survive in a world of crazy super-powered beings.

Guy has super-speed and he can run 92.7 miles per hour, "which makes him the only sidekick with a real super-power," Danko says. But Guy is stuck as the sidekick to the cowardly Pumpkin Pete, who has "all the powers of a pumpkin. Guy does all the hard work and Pumpkin Pete gets all the credit."

"Sidekicks 3: Attack of the Mole Master," is the latest adventure in the multi-book series that includes "Sidekicks" and "Sidekicks 2: Operation Squish!"

In previous adventures, Guy and his fellow Sidekicks have fought an evil puppet and a mad scientist and his giant robot. In "Sidekicks 3: Attack of the Mole Master," the group is out to stop an invasion of evil moles from the earth’s core who are tired of living in the dirt and who have kidnapped the girl of Guy’s dreams.

Danko and Mason are television writers with credits that include "Rugrats" and "Malcolm in the Middle." Their new animated series, "Pet Alien," debuts on The Cartoon Network in 2005. "Sidekicks" is their first original book series. Their previous books include "Shrek 2 Movie Storybook" (Scholastic) and "MythQuest" (Random House).

"Sidekicks 3: Attack of the Mole Master" is for readers 8-12-years-old and is on sale now at local bookstores and on the internet at
