goZone.com Empowers Searchers with Algorithm Choice

goZone.com takes personalized search to a new level by introducing algorithm choice. When searching on goZone.com, users are able to select the algorithm they would like goZone.com Search to use, defining relevancy on an individual basis.

CARY, NC (PRWEB) May 30, 2004 -- The goZone.com search engine (http://www.gozone.com) announced today the launch of search algorithm choice, an accelerated Personalization feature unique to goZone.com. This new function provides all goZone.com searchers with a choice of search algorithm, 'Noun Emphasis' or 'Indexed Keyword', to employ while conducting a search. Searchers are able to experiment with these search algorithms while conducting various searches to see which one returns the most relevant results. Leaving the choice of search algorithm up to the individual searcher provides a unique ability for the searcher to tailor their results to their personal needs and interests. This Personalization feature demonstrates goZone.com's dedication to seeking out and implementing true Personalized Search.

The goZone.com search algorithm, 'Noun Emphasis', is a matching technique that places the greatest importance on the last word(s) in a searcher's keyword phrase. goZone.com Search performs a search for relevant matches based upon this 'noun'. Resulting matches are weighted by how closely they match the phrase entered, which ensures that exact matches come to the top, followed by keyword matches found closer to the end of the search phrase. Special emphasis is placed on the last word of the phrase.

The goZone.com search algorithm, 'Indexed Keyword', gives equal emphasis to all words in the keyword phrase. When a search is performed using 'Indexed Keyword', the results are based upon a complex weighting metric that evaluates how well each result matches each word in the keyword phrase a searcher used.

Searchers may find that the search algorithm that performs best for them depends on the type of information they are seeking. For example, a search using the 'Noun Emphasis' may provide more relevant results for a search on a product or service. If a searcher is seeking multi-faceted information about a school system, however, 'Indexed Keyword' may be the better choice for the goZone.com search algorithm.

Putting the choice of search algorithm into the hands of the individual searcher opens new doors for the future of Personalized Search," stated Ernie St. Gelais, the President of goZone.com. "This advanced capability, unique to goZone.com, will allow searchers to really hone in on their personal preferences when conducting searches, giving them a search experience they will not find anywhere else." With revolutionary new products and technology, such as search algorithm choice and vertical search with Zones, goZone.com challenges other concepts of personalized search and allows the user more total control over their search experience.
