Peru States Trails and Tales Program Has a Few Openings Still Available
Peru State Colleges popular Trails and Tales program, which features a week of on-campus study and a six-day tour to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, still has some seats available in the classroom and on the tour bus. Moreover, substantial funds are available to offset participants costs.
PERU, NE (PRWEB) May 30, 2004 -- Peru State Colleges popular Trails and Tales program, which features a week of on-campus study and a six-day tour to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, still has some seats available in the classroom and on the tour bus. Moreover, substantial funds are available to offset participants costs.
This years Trails and Tales, titled The Kansas-Nebraska Act and the Winding Road to Statehood," will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 14-18, for the on-campus institute. This classroom experience will feature a study of the history and related American literature of this era. The tour will run the next week from Monday through Saturday, June 21-26, and will include approximately two days for stops in Nebraska and about four days for stops in Kansas.
Stipends of $450 each to offset the total tour cost for the first five additional elementary through secondary teachers who participate in the program are still available through funding from the Nebraska Humanities Council. Tuition remission grants of either $75 or $150, depending upon whether a person takes one or both courses included with the program, are also available from the PSC Foundation.
In addition, participants may take only the tour if they so desire and teachers who do this (up to the maximum of five remaining slots) will still qualify for the $450 stipends.
