Karmacoda Releases New Benefit Remix Compilation CD Featuring Bay Area DJs/Remixers

San Francisco Triphop/Electronica band Karmacoda have released a new remix compilation by world famous DJs and Producers including DJ Polywog and Tyler Stone. Proceeds from the compilation benefit the San Francisco Late Night Coalition.

(PRWEB) May 30, 2004 -- San Francisco-based electronica/trip-hop band Karmacoda announces the release of their third album, "Altered Evidence: Late Night Remixes". "Altered Evidence", a collection of remixed tracks inspired by songs from Karmacoda's successful second release, "Evidence", features local, and internationally acclaimed DJs and Remixers DJ Polywog & Frogger, Tyler Stone, DJ Amber & Russ Arteaga, DJ Rafael Acevedo and Den Jones. The compilation was conceived by Karmacoda and the DJs as an exciting way to feature established and emerging musical talent in the San Francisco Bay Area, and to support the San Francisco Late Night Coalition (SFLNC) and their efforts to protect, preserve and promote San Francisco's late-night culture. The album will be released May 3rd and will initially be available through Karmacodas website karmacoda.com, local Bay Area music stores, Amazon.com and CDBaby.com.

"Altered Evidence: Late Night Remixes" follows on the heels of Karmacoda's successful second release, "Evidence". Karmacoda's organic, downtempo/trip-hop electronica sound features emotional music that has earned them a large following in San Francisco and throughout the world. Karmacoda's music has been featured in the award-winning films Neverland and Paris as well as on MTV. In 2003, Karmacoda's song "Swan" won the MRG Music Award for best independent song used in film and television. Judges for the competition included such music legends as DJ Spooky, Joan Baez, Lou Reed, Mickey Hart, Ray Davies and Steve Vai.

"Altered Evidence: Late Night Remixes" features tracks by world famous San Francisco contributors including DJ Polywog and Frogger, Musician/Remixer/Producer Tyler Stone, DJ Amber and Russ Arteaga and DJ Rafael Acevedo. Polywog, known around the world for her fierce, innovative style, has appeared in the movie "Groove," appeared on MTV and has toured with Jane's Addiction, Lollapalooza, the Warped tour and has opened for Tricky, Lee Scratch Perry, Primus, Beck and Devo. Tyler Stone boasts remix and production credits for some of Dance and Pop musics finest artists including Sting, Crystal Waters, N'SYNC and Everything But the Girl. Tyler has had top ten Billboard Dance hits for
Aethers Give Away My Fear" and Colourful Karma's "For the Music". Amber is a San Francisco based DJ and producer with two CD releases, Gold" and CityDweller". She is a founding member and instructor at norcal DJ and Music Production Academy. Amber is also Executive Producer and Host of :CODE, a nightlife and electronic music television show. Russ Arteaga has been producing across all genres for decades. Arteaga's first 12" release was picked up by Sasha and Digweed for the Renaissance II compilation and he has performed on the same stage as Richie Hawtin, Moby and The Prodigy. DJ Rafael Acevedo is a long-time Bay Area DJ who started a new phase in his career when he joined Karmacoda in 2002. On his own or with the DJ collective Divinyl Echo (of which he's a founding member), DJ Rafael has been spinning house, deep house, and funk in establishments all over San Francisco for the past 10 years.

The SFLNC was formed in the summer of 1999 as a membership-driven political action committee (PAC) and lobbying group composed of local business people, promoters, DJ's, musicians, artists, community members and club owners whose goal is to protect, preserve and promote San Francisco's late-night culture. Beginning in May, the SFLNC and its supporters will kick off a series of fundraisers and a membership drive to help broaden its membership base and to raise money to support its activities. Notable among the SFLNCs many initiatives in 2004 is its legislative work to allow on-site alcohol sales after 2am in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose (AB 2344); and its work with the San Francisco Youth Commission on legislation to allow 18 and over entertainment venues to apply for extended hours permits.
