PACS Welcomes Smart Computing Magazine

The Philadelphia Area Computer Society is pleased to have Smart Computing Magazine speaking at its June meeting.

Hatboro, PA (PRWEB) June 8, 2004 -- The Philadelphia Area Computer Society (PACS) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, June 12 from 8:00AM to 3:00PM at Upper Moreland Middle School (UMMS), 4000 Orangemans Road, Hatboro, PA 19040.

Smart Computing will show a comprehensive presentation designed for user groups. The 45-minute presentation covers everything one would want to know about Smart Computing, including information on the magazine, their Web site, their innovative User Group Program, and much more. This presentation allows Smart Computing to show our members and guests the resources they have available for computing enthusiasts and novices alike.

About Smart Computing
Smart Computing is a monthly magazine devoted to helping users improve their productivity with personal computers. The magazine, founded in 1990 as PC Novice, emphasizes tutorial articles and plain-English writing that defines technical terminology.

Smart Computing is more than just another periodical for its readers; the magazine becomes a valuable part of many readers computing reference libraries. Popular regular features include a Q&A section, which answers readers questions; PC Operating Instructions, which focuses on the fundamental skills of using various operating systems; and Quick Studies, which contains how-to articles explaining a single feature of major applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, WordPerfect, and Quicken. Other sections cover the Internet, computing basics, upgrading components, troubleshooting, and more.

Each monthly issue also includes hardware and software reviews packed with common-sense buying advice based on the needs of real buyers, rather than just technical test results. These straight-talking reviews provide insight on the latest and best hardware and software.

About PACS
Started in 1976, PACS is one of the oldest formally organized, continuously operating computer user groups in the nation. PACS is a non-profit 501(c) (3) Pennsylvania corporation, managed by unpaid volunteers solely for the benefit of its guests and dues-paying members. We do not offer any product or service for sale, nor do we sponsor or promote commercial interests.

At its monthly meetings, PACS offers more than a dozen workshops in computer- and Internet-related topics, such as Windows, Apple/MAC, popular applications like Microsoft Word and Excel, website design, digital photography, hardware repair, and others. Some workshops are planned to run for only a few monthly sessions, while others continue as long as there is interest.
