Success Follows Where Trails are Blazed

Fantasy author Scot R. Stone finds success through research and repetition.

(PRWEB) June 5, 2004 -- What works for one author doesn't necessarily work for all authors, which is why Colorado author Scot R. Stone has done his homework when it comes to churning out successful book signings for his new novel, The Chimes of Yawrana: Book 1 of ~ The Snowtear Wars (ISBN: 1413712452).

"It has been a long and tedious road to learn what works and what doesn't when it comes to getting your name in the marketplace," Stone says. An author has to be versatile and willing to grab his audience's attention if he wants to get his name and book's name recognized."

And the proof of his words has been undeniable. In the seven book signings he has participated in to date, Stone has sold 80, 22, 19, 19, 37, 14 and 26. That's an astounding success rate and book stores have been taking notice. Stone has been invited back for additional signings at each store he's been to.

"Everyone has to prove themself before success will build and bloom," Stone adds. "The numbers have been fantastic, but I'm still looking for ways to improve." Stone currently uses a framed display of his book on an easel, a giant dragon statue on his signing table, and business cards and post cards to help create an exciting atmosphere for potential readers.

"You have to give them something they haven't seen before. The book alone isn't always enough. You have to have a good pitch line to get their attention and you always have to be courteous. Never be forceful if someone is not interested in your work. And for those who are interested but are unable to purchase an author's book at the time of a signing, the author should give those customers a remembrance tool so the reader will not quickly forget about them. That's where the business cards and post cards come in handy for me. I sign the post cards as well, a nice thank you to them for considering me as someone they may consider to add to the future reading stacks."

Stone is looking forward the the rest of summer with ten more signings already booked to help spread information about his novel and future works. "Someday I hope to have the stores requesting me to do a signing before I can ask them. That's when I know I will have made progress and am gaining an audience. I don't believe that day is that far off. It's all about supplying the public what they want. As long as I am able to keep reaching fans, then I know new doors will always be opening for me." Stone's book is available for purchase through all major booksellers.
