The New Pen Of Modern Poetry
Newly released from Publish America, Stray Thoughts From A Wandering Mind is a fresh look at poetry through the eyes of a dreamer.
San Jose, California June 7, 2004
Michael David Morash, born and raised in Canada, has been calling California home since 1983, and for the past several years has lived in San Jose with his family.
A recently published author, Mr. Morash has written a collection of poetry, "Stray Thoughts From A Wandering Mind", which was released earlier this year by Publish America.
"The collection is an interpretation of my life," Michael said. "Writing is very therapeutic thing. It does not matter how bad or how good my day is. If I have a bad day I write what I feel and I feel better. If I have a good day I write about it, and it becomes better day."
"I love the release that poetry gives a troubled or overburdened mind." Michael continued. "Poetry is an avenue that, when traveled, can bring enlightenment, understanding, calming, and illustration to an otherwise hectic existence. The works contained in Stray Thoughts from a Wandering Mind" are glimpses into my moods, passions, questions, answers, angers and joys. They range from dark and moody to light and contented. They are points on the compass rose I use to navigate this thing we call life.
The collection is only 92 pages, but its size does not detract from its artistic value or impact. Most of the works were written during 2003 and appear in the order they were written, making this collection a short journey through the creative and living process.
Michael began writing at a very early age, and knew from the start that it was what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. He has tried his hand at writing novels, songs, and screenplays, but always returns to his poems. Yet with all his passion for writing Michael had never attempted to be published until last year when a friend started pushing him to try.
Now 36, Michael regrets not being published years ago, but has no intention to dwell on it. "If it was not for Teresa, " Michael said, "I would probably still be wishing I was published instead of being published. She really pushed me to find a publisher so I did. I submitted to Publish America, and was accepted for publication. Now I am writing more than ever."
Michael is also writing a screenplay, which he is almost ready to market. "It is about a young man who is the only hope for the world of man." Michael said. "It is a good vs. evil, all or nothing, heros journey."
Michaels second book, "Dancing The Abyss" -- the title coming from a play on the phrase wrestling with your soul --, is in the final creative stages, and should be ready for publication sometime in the late fall. "I have sent the manuscript to my agent." Michael said. "Hopefully she will be able to find me a publisher quickly, although poetry is a limited market and it could take a while to find a publisher that fits our needs.
You can visit Michael at his web site, www.michaeldavidmorash.net . Just please do not hold its simplicity (or any mistakes you may find) against me." Michael Laughed. "This is my first attempt at a web site and, even though the host site provided the templates, I have to maintain them. So the site is a little "basic" right now."
