Harleysville Community Fire Company Votes to Split

In a unanimous vote of eligible members the Harleysville Community Fire Company has voted to allow its EMS division to seperate and form a new organization.

Lower Salford, PA (PRWEB) June 8, 2004 -- It was announced this evening that after a unanimous vote of the eligible members of the Harleysville Community Fire Company that the EMS division will be separating to form a new organization. The new organization will be called Harleysville Area Emergency Medical Service, Inc. and will begin providing service independent of the Fire Company on June 15, 2004. Prior to meeting on June 15th both the Fire and EMS divisions met to discuss the proposed agreements. During the transition time the residents of Lower Salford Township and surrounding areas will continue to receive 911 services from Harleysville Community Fire Company Ambulance.

The agreement voted on at the meeting was negotiated by attorneys from Rubin, Glickman and Steinberg for the Fire Division and Francis OHara for the EMS division with the assistance of Paul Vangrossi, a court appointed mediator.

I am pleased that this situation has come to an equitable resolution. It has always been the goal of the Fire Company to ensure that the residents of our community receive the finest fire and EMS service. This agreement will ensure that," said Ken Keith, President of Harleysville Community Fire Company. The agreement that was voted on is a good compromise that should allow both the Fire Company and Harleysville Area EMS to thrive. Our mission moving forward is to demonstrate to the community that although the names on our uniforms and vehicles might change, the commitment to working together to ensure the safety and health of the residents is job one," said Carol Gesullo, Chief of Harleysville Area Emergency Medical Service."

A joint press conference is planned for Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 9:30 AM in the conference room of Harleysville Community Fire Company.
