BEDD, a US and Singapore based developer of social networking software, today announced that it has over 1000 mobile users of its new communities application BEDD. BEDD is a new Bluetooth-enabled mobile social medium that allows people to meet, interact and communicate in a new way, letting their mobile phones do all the work as they go through their day. Singapore (PRWEB) June 10, 2004 -- BEDD, a US and Singapore based developer of social networking software, today announced that it has over 1000 mobile users of its new communities application BEDD. BEDD is a new Bluetooth-enabled mobile social medium that allows people to meet, interact and communicate in a new way, letting their mobile phones do all the work as they go through their day. BEDD had its worldwide launch in Singapore on 22/23 May 2004.

The founder of BEDD, CEO Stephen Carlton with a team of Swedish engineers led by CTO Olle Bliding, have developed this revolutionary software which searches automatically to meet people for friendship and dating, buying and selling and letting people know when their family and friends are close by, allowing users to then meet immediately via free Bluetooth chat messaging, SMS, MMS, Call, IM or Email.

BEDD, a new communities application that is phone-to-phone not using any server and utilizing wireless Bluetooth technology, is literally bringing people together. Its very thrilling to see users reactions just after they receive the software and start filling out their own profiles, and having so many potential matches start pouring into their phones. Even more exciting is the rush of contacting the other person for the first time," says Carlton.

The BEDD software is fun for the end user because its carrying the most demanded content in the world - people content. Content about who you are and about what you want... content about you!" The fact that this is a revolutionary concept was further endorsed this week when Nokias Series 60 Platform named BEDD Application of the Week." http://www.series60.com/applications?action=showNewsArticle&newsId=71&hot=1

Carlton added, We are already seeing many cases of users meeting through the software... reading profiles and ads, then sending free Bluetooth chat, or calling, SMSing and MMSing pictures back and forth where otherwise they would have perhaps never had the chance to meet."

For the end-users, BEDD costs only S$0.98 per month and offers a full menu of BEDD-functions: BEDDmates - searches automatically for friendship or dating; BEDDbay - searches automatically for items to buy, sell and trade; BEDDtalk - allows users to send free SMS with Bluetooth range either person to person or broadcast to a group simultaneously; BEDDbuddies - alerts users when their buddies or family are close by; BEDDshare - superdistribution of the software where users can share with each other; and BEDDfish -- allows users to send Bluetooth messages to any Bluetooth enabled phone.

Just the act of BEDDsharing the software to someone in a taxi queue or club or BEDDfishing to some cute girl or boy at the next table already is bringing people together, even though the other person doesnt even have the software yet. Its socially very positive," says Carlton.

BEDD, as result of creating a new mobile social medium, also gives service providers and handset manufacturers something to look forward to: users fee revenue, network traffic revenue, increased handset sales revenue and ultimately the carrying, distribution and propagation of third party content - both mobile-to-mobile and fixed-point to mobile.

The possibilities of finding, communicating and interacting with other people, and finding products, have now moved from the traditional medium of newspapers and the Internet to the mobile phone," says CTO Olle Bliding.

The BEDD application is currently available for the following Series 60 device models: Nokia 3650/3600, Nokia 3660/3620, Nokia 6600/6620, Nokia 7610, Nokia 7650, N-Gage, N-Gage QD, and Siemens SX1.

BEDD is a developer of social networking software including wireless community applications and services. The company was founded in 2001, focusing on the development of the BEDD standalone device. In the end of 2002, the company presented the BEDD application integrated to Series 60 devices. The BEDD application was commercially launched in May 2004 in Singapore. Rollouts are continued in Asia, Europe and Americas. More at: http://www.bedd.com.
