Digital dictation takes off in the North-East as technical requirements point three leading firms to BigHand

(PRWEB) June 11, 2004 -- BigHand Digital Dictation software is quickly becoming the dictation workflow solution of choice for leading firms in the North East, as Sintons, Blackett Hart & Pratt, and Freeman Johnson have all recently started implementing the award-winning system. The development, which will see significant BigHand projects in Newcastle and Durham (as well as smaller installations across Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, and Spennymoor) shows that the North-Easts top commercial firms remain just as committed to cutting-edge technology as their counterparts in London.

All three firms opted for BigHands high-performance" network dictation technology after finding competing offerings were less technically viable, and could potentially endanger the stability of their network infrastructure. John Pratt, Managing Partner at Blackett Hart & Pratt, who have over 100 users, outlined how providing service quality relies on the use of first rate IT tools:

"First-class client service and administrative efficiency is no longer the preserve of the London elite, as innovative regional firms are now also using Digital Dictation to ensure we can compete on the same terms. There is also no reason why firms in the North East should settle for second rate technology which could let us down; BigHands network architecture is the risk free, quality option."

A recent Law Society Survey (March 2004) reported BigHand voice file sizes are half the size of its nearest market competitor. Large file sizes can seriously impact network performance and significantly slow users down, negating any productivity gains made via workflow improvements. BigHands three-tier architecture is also unique to the sector, and means it transfers voice files more efficiently over a WAN. Kevin Campbell, Managing Partner of Freeman Johnson (who has 50 users), outlined the decision facing many firms:

"We came to look at digital dictation to help us control staff overheads and give us organisational flexibility -- the potential benefits are obvious. So the issue quickly becomes which system do you select?"

"There are many deals being offered at the moment, but at the end of the day you cannot afford to risk the continuing productivity of your practice. A lost dictation or network crash could cost your firm thousands in billable time so it is a false economy anyway. BigHand software gives you that peace of mind."

Jamie McCabe, Partner at Sintons, with 77 users, summarised the key differentiating factors:

"We have recently developed a state-of-the-art document management system, and we regard digital dictation as being the perfect partner for this in the future. BigHand offer us an exciting development path in this respect."

"Equally though, we felt that digital dictation is critical in terms of day-to-day productivity so it is not an area in which to gamble. Many of the systems available are just not proven, and supplied by companies without expertise in networked infrastructures. We spoke to 7 different IT Managers who had BigHand software before we committed -- they reported high performance time and time again."
