Seeking Independent Movies

Inferno Film Productions, LLC, is seeking independent movies to present to movie buyers at the November 2004 American Film Market.

(PRWEB) June 11, 2004 -- Thousands of independent movies are made across the U.S. each year. Many of them are on par with the films shown at the local cineplex. But very few of the independents ever find distribution because they are never seen by buyers of movie rights.

Inferno Film Productions, LLC, is doing something to change that. Inferno is once again screening independent movies to represent at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California.

"Indie filmmakers have the mistaken idea that film festivals are the way to get distribution for their movies. But film markets are where the action is," Darlene Cypser, president of Inferno, whose article on movie distribution myths recently was published by Indie Slate Magazine.

Founded in 1981, the American Film Market (AFM) has grown to be the largest motion picture trade event in the world. Unlike a film festival, the AFM is a marketplace where over $500 million in production and distribution deals are closed annually. Each year, more than 3,000 buyers and about 300 sellers convene in Santa Monica for eight days of deal making. Total attendance is over 7,000 including prominent actors, producers, directors, and movie distributors. This year AFM is moving to November and Inferno is gearing up for the November market.

But Inferno's deadline for consideration is fast approaching. "We are screening movies now," said Darlene Cypser.
