NEUCHATEL, Switzerland; Redwood, CA (PRWEB) June 14, 2004 --- XEMICS S.A., a leading provider of ultra low-power Bluetooth baseband ICs today announced that the company has agreed to license Skyworks Solutions Inc.s ultra-low-power Bluetooth radio transceiver to complement XEMICS Bluetooth offering. XEMICS and Skyworks collaborated on several Bluetooth designs, combining Skyworks SKY723x3 radio frequency (RF) transceiver with XEMICS' XE1400 series Bluetooth baseband controllers. The licensing of Skyworks Bluetooth IP will enable XEMICS to provide a complete Bluetooth solution and to further enhance the radio transceivers.

XEMICSs XE1400 series is manufactured using a 0.18 micron complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process that is ideally suited for ultra-low-power digital designs. Skyworks SKY723x3 transceivers are manufactured through a silicon germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS process that is the optimal technology for RF devices.

"We agreed to license Skyworks radio IP to better serve our clients needs to apply the worlds lowest power Bluetooth solution at even more competitive prices," said Alain Dantec, president and CEO of XEMICS S.A. "Thanks to our close relationship with Skyworks, this technology license will now enable us to address new applications and deliver leading-edge ultra-low-power solutions, for all types of battery-powered Bluetooth applications."

"We are pleased to provide XEMICS with our RF technology in order to further the development of Bluetooth cellular solutions," said Mohy Abdelgany, Skyworks vice president of RF Systems. "Combining XEMICS with our Bluetooth radio technology will address the needs of customers looking for competitive solutions for next-generation Bluetooth devices."
