Kasper Tapped for KUA Board

His name will go before the Kissimmee City Commission on June 29 for final confirmation.

KISSIMMEE, FL (PRWEB) June 12, 2004 -- At a special meeting of the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors held Thursday evening, the board interviewed five applicants and selected James R. Kasper to serve a five-year term on the utility's governing board.
    
Kasper is a broker for Kasper Real Estate. He holds a degree from Orlando Junior College. Kasper is a 40-year resident of Kissimmee and currently serves on the City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Board and Osceola County's Development Board.
    
Kasper's name will go before the Kissimmee City Commission on June 29 for final confirmation. If confirmed by the City Commission, he will be sworn in at the board's October meeting and serve until September 30, 2009.
    
The utility's board of directors sets policy direction for the utility. Specifically, the board approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.
    
The open position on the board was created when chairman Don Shearer announced in April that he would not seek a second term on the board because of a pending move outside Kissimmee city limits.
    
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water, and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
