Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 15, 2004 -- The 2004 class of Hull Fellows has been named by the Southeastern Council of Foundations. The only program of its kind in the country, the Hull Fellows Program was established by SECF in 2000 to nurture and inspire the Southeasts next generation of philanthropic leaders. The selective program benefits younger and newer foundation staff and trustees who have demonstrated strong leadership capabilities in their careers and their communities.
Nominated by their foundations, Fellows are selected for their leadership potential. Each class is composed of an intentionally diverse mix of participants. The class of 2004 will bring to 100 those who have completed the training.
Martin Lehfeldt, Southeastern Council of Foundations President points out: The Hull Fellows Program is one of the greatest legacies we have given to our field and to our region. The timing couldnt be better; an entire generation of foundation leadership is moving closer to retirement. Thats why its reassuring that new faces and voices are thoughtfully preparing to assume the responsibility for the important work of philanthropy."
Hull Fellows learn about the historic roots and traditions of philanthropy; gain new perspectives on philanthropic issues; explore the challenges and opportunities particular to southern philanthropy; develop their personal leadership abilities; and form new, collaborative relationships with their southeastern peers.
The cornerstone of the Hull Leadership Program is an interactive summer conference in August. The program concludes with a special session at the Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Council of Foundations scheduled this year for Charleston, South Carolina in November. The program is named in honor of Robert H. Hull, who served as SECFs president for 19 years, retiring in 1997.
