DCOC Faith-Based Housing & Economic Development Symposium

(PRWEB) June 13, 2004 -- Darkstar Community Outreach Center, Inc. (DCOC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community and economic development organization designed to mobilize human resources, implement educational programs and foster economic opportunities in the effort of community development by using the profiles and combined resources of our clients and strategic partners.
DCOC would like to invite faith-based community outreach organizations to participate in the 1st Annual Georgia Faith-based Housing & Economic Development Symposium on August 9-10, 2004. The Symposium will be held from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel, One Hartsfield Centre Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30354. The DCOC Networking Reception will be held on August 8, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m. in the exhibit hall. This exciting and informative symposium will focus on the key ingredients for effective housing and economic development projects in underserved communities. Participants will learn current strategies in community asset mapping, technology, workforce development, affordable housing, community based credit union, and micro-enterprise business development. The symposium will offer a variety of overview lectures by industry leaders, presentations by project executives and top public officials. The goals of the symposium are to raise participants awareness of rural and urban issues and solutions, and to provide faith-based organizations the tools to meet the challenges facing the communities they serve.
The cost to participant is $75.00 for two days, including continental breakfast, break refreshments, luncheon, and ticket to the Monday evening featured play Its Time to Make a Change" by Brenda Marshall in the hotel theater. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS JULY 21. Due to limited space, early registration is recommended.
