The Rurals Release Messages in US

Deep House collective The Rurals have released their seventh LP, MESSAGES, throughout the US. The album is already gathering praise for its blend of genres and live vocal as well as instrumental elements.

NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) June 14, 2004 -- Soulful deep house veterans The Rurals have released MESSAGES, their 7th LP on their homegrown label Peng. After ten prolific years of producing jazzy, rhythmic music from their pastoral home and studio in Devon, England, The Rurals latest installment is being praised for its mid to downtempo songs and instrumentation. In a recent MESSAGES review for iDJ Magazine, Russell Deeks commented, Far from being a collection of deep house club tracks, this is a varied selection of soulful grooves that demonstrates these Devon boys really should be considered in the same league as the likes of Moulton Studios/Naked Music mafia or even the mighty Blaze."

For MESSAGES, The Rurals engage in genre-blending by mixing jazz, R&B, House, broken beat, and chill-out with Maceo style sax, guitar, Hammond chords, and Dub style sub bass. Almost every song features the airy vocals of Marie Tweek" Compton floating over the thumping beats.

The new LP is available at select music shops in major US cities and online.

ABOUT THE RURALS:
Divine inspiration is clearly in abundance among the sleepy pastures of evergreen Devon." -- Mark Gurney, Twenty4-seven Magazine

The Rurals formed when Marie (or Tweek") was introduced to musician turned DJ/producer Andy Compton, who just happened to need a singer. The two eventually married and settled in the picturesque countryside of Devon, England. Since forming, the soul collective has released over 50 EPs and 7 LPs of nu-deep house music, worked with many respected labels such as DIY, started their own label named Peng, and have won fans including Scott Sterling of Urb Magazine and Fmagazine.coms David Newell. They also recently licensed some of their music to HBOs hit-series Six Feet Under. The Rurals can be visited online at www.therurals.com/ or at their labels site www.peng.co.uk/
