TruthForPresident.org, created by author and speaker Robert Rabbin, has launched an online spiritual activism center at http://truthforpresident.org/spiritual.html, which provides inspiration, information, and tools for people of all wisdom and faith traditions to express themselves politically. TruthForPresident.org also highlights important, under-reported stories and analyses from independent media and other sources for the national news media, political policy makers, and cultural thought leaders.

The world is begging to be healed of violence and greed," says Rabbin, whose passion for radically engaged spiritual wisdom inspired the project. More than 20 million U. S. adults practice yoga or meditate, and millions more actively explore the mysteries of consciousness and life through myriad other mystical and spiritual ways. Though following different paths, we are united-not by ideology, not by political or religious affiliation, not by race or social status, but by our collective deep longing for wisdom and peace, freedom and dignity, love and kindness. United by these values, we can become a potent political force for social renewal and political reform. 'First we receive the light, then we impart it. Thus we repair the world, says the Kabbalah. We cannot have inner freedom without freedom in the world. We cannot have inner peace without peace in the world. We cannot have love, or kindness, or joy if we do not actualize these qualities in the world."

Like many others, Rabbin was pushed into action by the punishing policies of the Bush administration. We must choose our next president with great care. In the simplest of terms, our choices are between the paths of war and peace, between violence and nonviolence, between hatred and understanding, between fear and love, between retribution and reconciliation, between aggression and restraint. It is crucial that we all participate in this election, that we understand what is at stake, that we educate ourselves about the issues, and that we vote our values in November."

With the clear purpose of inspiring, informing, and mobilizing the voter population of this community of values-driven people, TruthForPresident.org's online spiritual activist center provides inspirational messages from from a growing list of yoga/meditation teachers, spiritual leaders, healers, social visionaries, and wise elders from diverse traditions and paths; information resources to help people get and stay informed about issues and current events; voter registration information and support; suggestions on what people can do to mobilize others to vote, and links to activist organizations.

In addition to this, TruthForPresident.org will broadcast these messages and information via email to thousands of yoga studios, meditation centers, retreat facilities, and houses of faith and worship in the U. S., creating a groundswell of interest and enthusiasm for spiritual activism.

Let's remember that this country belongs to us, the people. We the people must exercise our full right of ownership with our very best self and highest wisdom. We cannot afford to mistake power for wisdom, conviction for clarity, or ideology for truth. It is time to repair the world with love, wisdom, and compassion, but also with action, strength, and resolve. We cannot be complacent or apathetic. It is crucial that we expand our spiritual life-our practices, values, and conversations-to embrace the state of the world and the question of our personal responsibility for social and political participation. Our task is to apply principles of universal wisdom to the work of social and political renewal."

Rabbin has strong views about President Bush, "I will tell you that the Bush administration does not represent the qualities that are consistent with universal spiritual wisdom, or with the most cherished of basic human values. But don't take my word for it; do as the Buddha said: Be a light unto yourself . Find out for yourself, and when you do, I know you will join me in voting the current administration out of office in this coming election. It is the only way we can promise our children, and theirs, a life worth living."
