Synthpop artist The Dignity of Labour throws open the musical floodgates and is rewarded with a recording contract and a new single.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 18, 2004 -- XRV, the debut single for The Dignity of Labour, is the latest response to an insatiable demand for intelligent and emotional synth-based music. XRV recaptures the glory of eighties electronic pop and updates it with a unique perspective. The song depicts the unknowing exposure of ones frailties, with lifting orchestral textures and smooth vocals molded to a club-friendly beat.

The title track is subjected to rigorous transformation with upstart Nevarakkas heavy trance version and a hauntingly familiar 'Upstairs at Erics'. The remaining XRV treatments include The Dignity of Labours own 'Xtremix' and a Razormaid-clone 'Domination Mix'. To round out the single, the songs 'Vinyl Bliss' (a second look at the standout track from The Dignity of Labours 1997 album 'Belief') and 'Oxygen' (a hard-hitting club track from the upcoming self-titled album) are included, along with a stark revisit to 'Vinyl Bliss' by emo-synthesists Color Theory.

According to Kirk Taylor, the sole member of the band, the single almost did not come to fruition. 'After ten years of struggling in the music business, along with two commercially unsuccessful albums, I had reached a defining moment in my life where I was to decide if pursuing the dream was worth the energy I was putting into it. Following some deep introspection, Taylor began to write what would coagulate into an equally profound collection of demos. Response from those close to Taylor encouraged him to submit the tracks to several independent electronic-based labels in the US and Europe. Among those who responded with contract offers was synthpop linchpin, A Different Drum, who offered Taylor a one-single/one album deal. 'ADD has given me a platform to influence people through music, and I look forward to having a voice. A new album is also planned for 2004.
