(PRWEB) June 20, 2004 -- Tritium; a new start-up in the UK has launched a parabolic reflector for increasing the range of Wireless Computer networks (WiFi, WLAN, 801.11b) installations. The product is named Flatenna TM", on account of its flat pack nature.
Carl Schofield, Managing Director said Following the success of the product on our own community network and in a few friends homes, we decided to register the design and market the product more widely to meet the growing need. People love the product because it looks cool and is a fraction of the price of a conventional antenna of similar performance".
The Flatenna can be easily assembled in a minute. The Flatenna; vaguely resembling a Klingon space ship, can be used with any indoor WiFi or WLAN equipment which has an external stub antenna. The Flatenna just clips on your existing antenna more than doubling the range of a connection. By using two Flatennae, one at each end, its possible to achieve five times the range under the right conditions.
Carl said, We identified the need for a low cost way to extend WiFi range for Community network and business users wanting links between nearby buildings. There is also a need for WiFi range improvements in the home to reach the bottom of the garden or that room in the attic! We designed something to meet our local need and realised that we had a great product on our hands! The Main advantages of the Flatenna are that its low cost, very effective and incredibly simple to install."
The Flatenna is available from the Tritium Website www.tritium.co.uk for 9.99 + P&P.
