MARLTON, NJ (PRWEB) June 20, 2004 -- Global Protection, a distributor of protective gear for chemical, biological and nuclear agents, soared to the top of the Philadelphia Business Journals 2004 South Jersey 25 -- posting a 767 percent revenue growth between 2001 and 2003. The company, owned by Burlington County entrepreneur Robert A. Lipinski, grew from $1.6 million in 2001 to $6.9 million in 2002 and $14.5 million in 2003.
The Philadelphia Business Journal and the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Rowan University honored Global Protection and the 24 other fastest-growing South Jersey private companies before a crowd of more than 300 executives at the Ninth Annual South Jersey 25 Awards Luncheon recently. Rowan University College of Business compiled the data for the South Jersey 25.
Founded in 1998 as Supernova, the company was purchased in June 2003 by leading Burlington County entrepreneur Robert A. Lipinski, who is the founder of Lipinski Landscape & Irrigation, Lipinski Pools, Lipinski Snow Services, Century Gunite and Millenium Land Development. Lipinski has owned and operated business in South Jersey for more than 28 years, today employing more than 400 people -- the flagship organization being Lipinski Landscape & Irrigation.
Last year, I heard through associates that this business opportunity might be available, to acquire a company that was involved in the homeland security business -- one of the hottest industries in the country right now, due to the current world situation," Lipinski states. I felt there was a real opportunity here, not only to get involved in a new business venture, but also to provide a service toward our nations homeland security endeavors. By combining Global's technically experienced management with our executive staff and our capital, I felt that we could grow this business into a $300 million company."
According to Global Protection company officials, federal, state and local governments are all scrambling in this post-911 era to be prepared in the event of a chemical, biological or nuclear emergency. The state of world affairs has resulted in a booming homeland security business environment -- resulting in Global Protections rapid accent to $14.5 million in 2003. The company is targeting for triple digit growth during 2004.
When September 11, 2001 happened, the local, state and federal governments found themselves, basically, to some degree, poorly protected in the chemical and biological area. Now, the federal government is spending tens of billions of dollars in this area, which is a true reflection of the times in which we live," Lipinski reports. From another vantage point, it also creates for us at Global Protection a tremendous opportunity to serve the country and build a successful business at the same time. When we took over Global Protection in June 2003, we developed a whole new system and way of operating the company by utilizing a Moorestown IT company called Miles Technologies -- they helped us get the company ready from a technology infrastructure vantage to grow the company into a $300 million operation."
