New Educational Dueling Card Game Wins Best Vacation Toy Award Just in Time for Summer

Putting a new twist on flashcards helps Mythmatical Battles to win summer vacation product award. The educational alternative to dueling cards garnered the Dr. Toy Award by combining multiplication with classic mythology to help kids keep math skills sharp over summer break.

Lambertville, MI (PRWEB) June 21, 2004 -- Mythmatical Battles has been named to the Best Children's Vacation Product List by nationally respected play expert Dr. Toy. Mythmatical Battles teaches multiplication by combining it with classic mythology to put a new twist on flashcards.

"We're honored to be recognized by Dr. Toy, this is a huge boost for our little company perfectly timed for summer vacation. A year ago I was searching for a way to help my children practice math over the summer break" said Michael Regnier, inventor and company founder. This year, Mythmatical Battles is available for thousands of families who are in the same boat with their kids."

Regnier's own children were big fans of dueling and collecting cards and when the local school banned them it inspired the creation of educational dueling cards.

Now Dr. Toy has recognized Mythmatical Battles as a creative new way to keep multiplication skills sharp over the summer. The game combines multiplication facts with classic myths. Greek, Celtic, Norse, and Egyptian myths turn multiplication drilling into multiplication dueling. "This is the first educational option for kids who love dueling cards and parents who want the kids to learn those math facts."

Dr. Toy, whose real name is Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D. is a respected expert in smart play, the value of toys and games in education, and child development. She's authored 15 books is a contributor to The Today Show, The New York times, LA Times, Parenting, Working Mother and many more. To make her Best Children's Vacation product list toys must be new, creative, safe, educational, and fun. "We knew Mythmatical Battles was the first of it's kind, combining classic myth with math helped spark an interest in both, but Dr. Toy's endorsement is a testament to the quality we worked hard to achieve," says Regnier.

Mythmatical Battles is sold in Double Deck Sets with two 55 card decks in every box. One set is enough for two players or teams. Each card depicts an age appropriate myth from diverse cultures. The decks also inspire collecting. "One thing that fuels a kid's interest in cards is the collecting aspect." Regnier points out. He says that's why they've included Adventure Cards in every deck. Among the legends and myths is a modern character. There are eight Adventure Cards randomly placed in the decks. "We're finding kids want to get more decks to make sure they have all the Adventure Cards." He says Adventure Cards tie into future products from Mythmatical Battles but don't affect game play.

"Bottom line, we just wanted to inject a little fun into math homework and classic mythology does that because it has more excitement and drama than any cartoon out there," said Regnier, "were excited that Dr. Toy recognized Mythmatical Battles as an innovative way to make summer fun but still be ready for back-to-school."

Mythmatical Battles retails for $15.99 and is available at the company's website, www.mythmaticalbattles.com.
