Popular Technology Unveils New Server-Free Peer-To-Peer Telecommunications Technology For the Market

Popular Telephony is the first to introduce true serverless, patent-pending technology for peer-to-peer telephony.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 23, 2004 -- Popular Telephony Inc., a telecommunications middleware company, announced today at SuperComm 2004 (BOOTH # 10841), the technology concept of serverless and switchless telecommunications for the enterprise market. The companys invention, Peerio, is a groundbreaking, patent-pending core technology for the implementation of peer-to-peer, server-free telecommunications systems.

Peerio is a highly portable middleware application for embedded devices that seamlessly incorporates into VoIP ICs, IP phones and other telephony-enabled systems or modules. Enhancing current innovations in peer-to-peer computing, Popular Telephonys concept will enable groups of Peerio-intelligent devices to process phone calls in an interconnected manner as if served by an on or off-premises switch/server, but relying solely on the IP network infrastructure.

Expected to completely transform traditional telecommunication networks by eliminating routing through a centralized server -- node or switch -- Peerio successfully addresses scalability, security, redundancy and other system issues that are inherent in both enterprise and global telephony network implementation, while supporting all standard and advanced telephony features. Peerio is protocol-agnostic, enabling switchless and serverless communications for VoIP systems and devices running on SIP, H.323 and all other standard or proprietary protocols.

An Intellectual Property Company, Popular Telephony will be licensing Peerio on a non-exclusive basis, for integration into VoIP-enabled integrated circuits (VoIP ICs, colloquially known as IP phone chips"), IP phones, enterprise telephone and audio/video conferencing systems, and other telephony-enabled end user devices.

We believe that Peerio technology is the next logical step in the progress of telecommunications, both from a technical and business standpoint," said Dmitry Goroshevsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Popular Telephony Inc. This technology is very unique. Straightforward solutions like multi-cast just dont meet scalability, efficiency and security requirements, and as a result, many of our partners and beta customers did not believe the Peerio concept was possible. It is and its here!"

Total Cost-Effectiveness
Peerios autonomous design eliminates up to 80% of any telephony systems hardware and service expenses (call control, redundancy and security equipment). With Peerio, the network becomes a pure transport layer for IP services and as such, it is much easier to manage, maintain and support.

Enhanced Scalability
Peerio is a Plug-and-Play solution that scales from 2 to 4, 294, 967, 296 telephones. It enables customers to scale their systems by simply purchasing additional Peerio-intelligent phones.

Advanced Telephony Features
Peerio effectively challenges classical PBXs and IP-based systems by supporting the widest possible range of telephony features and services, including call centers, web integration, instant and unified messaging. The advanced features can be customized and are available for all system configurations from the smallest three-line network to anything over 1,000,000 lines.

Quality of Service
Peerio improves critical aspects of network performance by providing load balancing that reduces network overload and enables customers to seamlessly adapt new services while supporting the industry-standard QOS protocols.

Interoperability
Peerio is middleware and as such, it is implemented on top of any system or mix of systems, and supports all necessary custom features. Peerio is interoperable with every semiconductor, OS, VoIP protocol or PBX features set. It can be ported to any IP telephony device and be configured to activate the original set of features.

Redundancy and Reliability
Popular Telephony designed Peerio to exceed the present limitations of VoIP telephony, and as a result, Peerio is inherently reliable, providing redundancy of more than 99,999%.

Security
Special attention was given to security issues and Peerio comes with a full range of built-in security solutions that negate the systems potential vulnerabilities and combat threats such as DOS (Denial of Service) and Man in the Middle attacks.

Peerio revolutionizes the methodology, architecture and economics of worldwide enterprise communications. It has the potential to turn the market on its head and become the dominant, leading-edge P2P telecommunication commodity," said Goroshevsky. Next time you start an office, instead of paying lots of money when making lots of calls, youll be able to just go straight to the supermarket, choose the phone you want with a Peerio stamp on it, come back to your desk, plug it into the LAN and your new line is installed. When you need more lines, you just order more phones, and delivery included."

Peerio444, a forever-free consumer VoIP application was released earlier this year. More information can be found at http://www.peerio.com.
