NBA Star Kenny Thomas Selects The M&M Group for Public Relations & Marketing Consulting
The M&M Group of Princeton, NJ seeks to maximize 76er Kenny Thomas's off-court opportunities.
(PRWEB) June 23, 2004 -- Philadelphia 76er Kenny Thomas recently selected The M&M Group for public relations and marketing consulting services. The Princeton, NJ-based firm will work with Thomas on media relations, community relations, personal appearances, and endorsement development.
"As a season ticket holder to the Philadelphia 76ers, I've had the pleasure of watching Kenny put up All-Star caliber numbers for the team," said Taneshia Nash Laird, founder and principal of The M&M Group. "When Allen Iverson and Glenn Robinson went down with injuries, KT, who already shouldered the lion's share of the Sixers rebounding duties, took on the added responsibility of being the Sixers' main scoring option this past season. So, needless to say, I'm a fan of Kenny the player, but I'm also a fan of Kenny the person and I'm looking forward to working with him to maximize his off-court opportunities."
Laird will personally direct Thomas's account. Media wishing to schedule an interview with Kenny Thomas and companies interesting in appearances or other marketing opportunities with him should contact Laird at 609.945.0446 or 212.655.9519 or via email at info@likethecandy.com
Kenny Thomas entered the league in 1999 as a first round NBA draft pick of the Houston Rockets. The Sixers acquired Thomas in December 2002 from the Rockets in a three team deal and in July 2003 the Sixers re-signed Thomas to a seven-year contract.
Considered by some to be the best combination forward in the league, Thomas is one of only nine players that averaged double figure points and double figure rebounds during the regular 2003-2004 season.
Thomas, an Army "brat" whose home addresses have included cities in Georgia, Texas, and Germany, attended the University of New Mexico where as a four-year starter he led the Lobos to four straight appearances in the NCAA tournament, as well as the school's best four-year record in history. The 6-7, 245 pound forward became the first player in Western Athletic Conference history to finish his career with more than 1,800 points, more than 1,000 rebounds and more than 200 blocks. While a college student he also played on the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 1997 World University Games in Trapani, Italy.
In the off-season Thomas is committed to serving the New Mexico community where he attended his senior year of high school and college. Since 2000 he has hosted the Kenny Thomas Annual Camp of Fundamentals for boys and girls grades 1-12. This year the camp takes place the week of July 5, 2004 at Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque.
Kenny Thomas is the only son of Calvin and Patricia Thomas and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.
