The American Federation of Freelance Interior Designers (AFFID) is organized as a direct response to attempts in various jurisdictions to curtail the activities of experienced interior designers. AFFID offers full professional association membership to all independent and small-firm residential interior designers whose work demonstrates a high level of professional accomplishment.

Located in metro Washington, D.C., AFFID is ideally situated to give voice in the halls of government to experienced professional residential interior designers whose right to practice is under determined assault by special interests that seek to limit competition in the interior design trade.

AFFID will grant full membership in the association to interior designers whose work, as demonstrated by completed projects, passes peer review. AFFID and its members will work to prevent the passing of state laws that deny interior designers the right to practice through restrictions on free expression.
