George Zamora, former president of Warner Music Latina and multiple Grammy Award winning Producer Sergio George, today announced a joint venture to form a new record label dubbed SGZ Entertainment. The label will be based in Miami, FL and will cater to the Urban and Tropical genre.
"I'm delighted to partner with George Zamora in the launching of our new label; he has been an important part of the industry throughout the years and has been the force behind the success of many artists," said Sergio George. "One of my life long dreams was to create an independent music company especially with such a talented individual as Sergio George. Due to the opportunity that exists we were able to accomplish such a dream. In the past we have had numerous amounts of hit records and look forward to creating new artist," continues Zamora.
SGZ Entertainment will create a full service label with its own A&R, marketing and promotion departments and will also establish a management and publishing division. Sony Discos will manufacture and distribute the label in the US, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic thru Sony Music Distribution.
The first release from SGZ Entertainment (which takes its name from Sergio George and George Zamora's initial in their first and last name) is expected to hit stores in August, more details will follow shortly.

Most recently, the president of Warner Music Latina, Zamora has held various key positions including Vice President/General Manager at Sony Discos, and Director of Sales for RCA Records U.S. Latin and RCA U.S. Domestic. He began his career under the leadership of industry pioneer Henry Stone at TK Productions.
While at Warner Music Latina, he helped develop pop artist like Alejandro Sanz and Bacilos among others. During his Warner leadership, the label catapulted to pop label of the year two years in a row (2001 and 2002) in the Billboard year awards. Under Zamora's leadership, Sony Discos became the market leader with an impressive 31% market share from 1992 thru 1996
Zamora has developed and established artists such as Bacilos, D.L.G., Luis Enrique, La Mafia, Victor Manuelle, Frankie Negron, Tito Nieves, Jerry Rivera, and Rey Ruiz. He has also worked with many prominent artists including Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Luis Miguel, Alejandro Sanz, ManÃ¡, Chayanne, Roberto Carlos, Vicente Fernandez, Ana Gabriel and Olga TaÃ±Ã³n.
