RFC Services is proud to announce the release of Visual Hindsight, network camera surveillance and recording desktop software that allows you to monitor your business or home over a local area network or the Internet. Award-winning Visual Hindsight includes professional-grade features at an entry-level price, and is ideal for unattended monitoring of convenience stores, gas stations, day care centers, retirement facilities, hospitals, laboratories, commercial property, private homes, and more.

RFC Services has released v. 1.01 of Visual Hindsight Professional Edition, a Windows NT, 2000, 2003 Server, and XP program that offers professional-grade network camera surveillance and recording for the Desktop Video Surveillance domain.

This latest version of Visual Hindsight supports virtually all network cameras and video servers capable of producing industry-standard JPEG still images or Motion-JPEG image streams, including cameras and video servers manufactured by Axis, D-Link, ELMO, Flexwatch, Hunt, IDView, IQinVision, JVC, Orite, Panasonic, PDuke, Pixord, Sony, Toshiba, TLC Watch, Vivotek and more. It allows real-time viewing of up to 100 cameras and video servers while simultaneously recording up to 50 live video streams directly to disk as compressed AVI files.

Visual Hindsight operates in single or multi-user mode; in multi-user mode, it provides a shared URL database and support for concurrent users, and offers operator logon access to control URL modification and viewing privileges. A database engine that incorporates a 160-bit encryption algorithm ensures data integrity and security.

Other functions include a Retention Monitor™ for optimal use of recording disk space, automatic reconnection of dropped connections, automatic record-on-connect, and motion-detection recording. User interface languages include English, French, Italian and Spanish, with support for dynamic switching between languages during program operation.

Visual Hindsight Professional Edition is ideal for monitoring convenience stores, gas stations, day care centers, retirement facilities, hospitals, laboratories, commercial property, private homes and more. Whether you're a security manager responsible for monitoring access to multiple sites, a school administrator who needs to ensure unauthorized people cannot gain access to your campus, or anyone interested in monitoring their business or their home, Visual Hindsight is a powerful, easy to use and affordable desktop video surveillance and recording solution.

Visual Hindsight is immediately available at only $199 US, and requires Windows NT, 2000, 2003 Server, or XP running on a PIII 450 MHz or greater at 800 x 600 x 16/32bit video resolution. A free, fully functional trial version is available for download from the Visual Hindsight web site at .

Each window can display, simultaneously, 1 to 20 live video streams (camera, video server, or Web URL), and record 1 to 10 streams to disk as highly compressed AVI files. This makes for a total of 100 live video streams displayed and 50 recorded (computer hardware and network bandwidth permitting).Industry-Standard AVI FootageIndustry-Standard AVI FootageVisual Hindsight records live footage directly to disk as industry-standard compressed AVI files, which can be replayed using the Microsoft Windows Media Player, Real Player, or similar utility.Automatic Retention MonitoringAutomatic Retention MonitoringThe Automatic Retention Monitor is used to set limits on how much disk space is allocated for recording purposes. For example, you can set the Monitor to never allow more than 1 GB of disk space to be occupied by recorded files. When this limit is exceeded, the Monitor will alert the user or automatically delete the oldest recorded files. Similarly, the Monitor can be set to alert or automatically delete files that reach a specific age. When files become older than a user-defined number of days, the Monitor will alert the user or automatically delete the oldest recorded files.Live Preview Of Camera VideoLive Preview Of Camera VideoThe Visual Hindsight Preview URL window allows you to see a live view of the network camera or video server URL you're currently pointing to. While in the Preview URL window, Visual Hindsight will automatically reconnect to each URL entry as you navigate from one record to another.Security Through Privileged AccessSecurity Through Privileged AccessVisual Hindsight supports multi-user functionality, and allows you share the URL and user database, and to associate users with groups of cameras. A typical use for this functionality is to restrict access to groups of cameras, video servers or Web URL’s. In addition, administrative privilege controls whether a user is permitted to create, modify or delete URL settings.
