Description:
What legal limbo? Peter Jennings presents, on a special edition of 20/20: How to be an Ostrich in more ways than one, or "Detention Dilemma Two Years After 9/11, Guantanamo Prisoners Remain in Legal Limbo" So who cares? Posted at ABCNews.Com, starting at http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/US/2020_guantanamo_040625-1.html, Ostriches are perhaps the dumbest animals on the planet. They cannot remember what they did a moment before. They cannot remember what they should. They are convinced hiding their head anywhere is enough to hide the whole bird. Now, Peter Jenninges and Al's Broadcasting Network (ABC) bring the story of "Guantanamo Bay", and how it has "become one of the most controversial facets of America's war on terror." Excuse me? Jennings can't get enough of prison stories, he has to change the prison to keep it going? Donald "Rumsfeld insisted the prisoners were "among the most vicious killers on the face of the Earth," that they included a man with links to the financing of 9/11, a bodyguard for bin Laden, an explosives expert for al Qaeda, and other "senior al Qaeda and Taliban operatives, who continue to express a commitment to kill Americans if released."" But Jennings, is more concerned with the 'innocents among the detainees'. "If the overwhelming majority of the detainees have yielded no useful information for interrogators, how many of the prisoners might not be affiliated with al Qaeda or involved with any terror activities?" And what better way to illustrate his absurd contention that "Guantanamo Prisoners Remain in Legal Limbo", (what 'legal', this is way, or doesn't the ABC news talking head understand the consequences of losing such a thing?), than to single out a single man.

Specifics:
"Khalid al-Odah, a Kuwaiti, says there is at least one. His son, Fawzi al-Odah, has been held at the camp for nearly two years." Says Jennings. When the press needs to make a large point they always use the smallest emotional appeal. "Fawzi al-Odah was among a group of five Kuwaitis picked up by authorities in a Pakistani village near the Afghan border in late 2001 and turned over to Americans. While held in Pakistan, the Kuwaitis had asked a guard to deliver a letter to their ambassador in Pakistan. They wrote that they had gone to Afghanistan legally to "provide humanitarian help to the needy Afghan people" during the war. The guard reportedly was too afraid to deliver the letter. Today, all five men remain in Guantanamo." Gosh Jennings, do ya think they might be lieing to you? Nah, of course not. Someone picked up in a war zone, on the wrong side would never lie unless it was to help this country, now would they? Jennings is more concerned with forcing the prosecution of a war, where the very existence of this country's culture and the lives of its citizens hangs in the balance, as if it were a legal case. It is that mentality that allowed this country to be caught with its pants down in 2001 (after nearly a decade of treating terror as if it was just another Branch Dividian cult.

Argument:
Jennings even goes this far, to present the belief that prisoners at Guantanamo are victims of 9/11. "The United States has now completed a new permanent prison at Guantanamo Bay. It is called Camp Five. If prisoners are transferred here, said our escort officer, they know they are not going home. Today, the United States is sending men to Guantanamo from various parts of the world. Six, for example, were picked up in Bosnia, another in Iran, and two men were delivered here from West Africa. The courtroom for the military tribunals is ready. But after almost 2½ years in U.S. custody, only three prisoners have been charged. And not a single trial has begun or a date even set. To Khalid al-Odah, the detention of his son is painful and incomprehensible. "It makes no sense, what they are doing. We become all, as families and as the detainees, victims of 9/11 - become like the Americans, victims of the 9/11."" The Peter Jennings report, June 25, 2004 is another in a long string of seditionist reports from the media in this country that purports to twist the facts to fit an ideology. That American's are guilty of defending ourselves. As for the concept that the best defense is a good offense, Jennings would undoubtedly have the U.S. Military ask the permission of the families of those caught attempting to do harm, if it would be ok with them if we just talked to their terrorist, scum children and if they decided to cooperate and tell us what we want to know, we'll give them Ben and Jerry's rocky-road in a cup, a good first class seat home, and reparations for daring to kill them in the first place. This report is anti-American and shows the real intent of ABC news in wanting not only this administration to go away, but this country's Republican form of government to go away as well.

It is the order of this Court that the Defendant shall be publicly announced as having been INDICTED of the charge as alleged and shall be listed in the Court Defense Docket where the Defendant(s) may offer a defense before the Jury and that upon such defense, rendered within forty-eight (48) hours of this Indictment the Clerk shall place the Complaint before the Jury for Verdict; and in the absence of such Defendant Response, the Clerk shall permit defense from interested parties and upon receipt of such defense shall place the Complaint before the Jury for Verdict.

IT IS SO ORDERED

PressCourt is the people's voice in news coverage and offers those who view, listen or read the news to report those who publish for having slanted, twisted or otherwise corrupted the news.

Freedom of The Press Requires Responsibility. Either Report The News And Not Your Own Agenda, Or You Will Wind Up In Press Court: Where The People Judge.

The purpose of a free press is to keep the public informed of the truthful events of its government and its society. It is not a blanket protection from responsibility: for distorting the news, slanting the news or otherwise changing the topic of a news report to fit an ideological intent.

It does not matter if the news is slanted left or right. It matters that news cannot be slanted or it is opinion.

PressCourt is the people's opinion. Those news anchors, outlets, stations, networks, newscasts, newspapers, magazines and Internet sources who slant the news are held accountable in PressCourt. We consider Advertisers who support the press that slants the news to be Accomplices. And we will not support Accomplices.

News stories that are not intended to be opinion will be processed. Convicted news media will be announced in press releases and on this site. http://www.intercourts.com through the PressCourt entrance.

Since the Press is protected in the Constitution, this Complaint (alleging bias by a media source ) does not pretend to restrict the rights of the Press to publish as it sees fit. It does pretend to argue the method, manner, conclusion and/or misuse of that right.
