Lareece Chambers (eight years of age) and Jonnathein Chambers (six years of age), Child Co-Authors, will be featured among a select group of youth role models at the Young Talented Achiever's (YTA) Annual Academic Scholarship Awards Ceremony on July 9, 2004.
Ontario, CA (PRWEB) June 28, 2004 -- Lareece Chambers (eight years of age) and Jonnathein Chambers (six years of age), Child Co-Authors, will be featured among a select group of youth role models at the Young Talented Achiever's (YTA) Annual Academic Scholarship Awards Ceremony on July 9, 2004. "We provide a structured scholarship awards program directed towards K-12 students struggling to meet equivalencies -- or to get C's -- whose thoughts may be that they will never be successful, because they cannot envision themselves or (believe they can) afford to go to college," says YTA President, Millie McGhee-Morris. "Since 1983, YTA has raised sponsorships and provided this program to change these children's (and their families') perceptions and realities -- giving more than $2 million to nearly 4,000 YTA participants, to date. Providing money, support and positive role models such as Jonnathein and Lareece are what make the difference. Past role models and supporters have included entertainers such as "Brandy" and "Ray-J" Norwood," contends McGhee-Morris.
This year, the YTA program will be emceed by Jonnetta Chambers, President of Women in Focus FORUM's Professional Business Network, and co-emceed by Maurice Mouton, Organizational Effectiveness Advisor at Sempra Energy Utilities. Together, these inspirational agenda officiators will introduce more than eighty scholarship and award recipients to the attending audience, including two YTA returning scholarship recipients (now in college), Chad E. Hutchins and Jacqueline Sovde.
The Program's Keynote Speaker, The Honorable Robert L. Bowser, Mayor, will bring forth a message -- all the way from East Orange, New Jersey. Mayor Bowser, will be recognized among six others (Honorable Mayor, William "Bill" J. Alexander, Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Rev. Wm & Alberta McGhee; Mary Ethel & Fred Bates; and Johnnie L. Cochran Sr.) -- receiving Image Awards in the areas of Leadership, Vision and Mentoring, for their success, track record and ability to be a role model for the YTA award recipients and their families.
Judging the competitive program components of the ceremony (talent/speech, appearance, personality and grade point average) will be Nancy High Membership Chair, Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce; Sharon M. Baer, CEO, DAISY; and Ron Stark, President, Star Kreative Services.
YTA's current Board of Directors are: Millie McGhee-Morris, Founding President; Lucius A. Bowser, Vice President; Danny Arguello, Second Vice President; Jackie Groves, Secretary; Leslie L. Morris, M.D., Treasurer; Queen Tobias, Board Member; and Vincent Reed, Board Member.
