Michael Moore Threatening our Freedom?
There is such a thing as too much freedom when it undermines and dismisses the etiquette of war-time policy. Michael Moore as filmmaker, celebrity and author slaps the face of American democracy by planning to distribute and promote his latest work, Fahrenheit 9/11, in Middle Eastern countries. Ironically, as a citizen there, he would face death for voicing his opinions against the government, if he were granted the opportunity and medium to express opinions at all.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2004 -- Does Moore really have an idea of the true meaning and value of the word freedom, as a precious commodity not to be taken for granted? I think not" says Susanne M. Reyto, author of The Pursuit of Freedom: A True Story of the Enduring Power of Hope and Dreams. Reyto and her family know firsthand what it means to be imprisoned falsely by a government mired in principles of tyranny, oppression, and control. Having survived Nazism, imprisonment and Communism in post WWII Hungary, Reyto is now a naturalized citizen of the United States who speaks out for freedom and preservation of the very rights that make America the great country it is. Moore is abusing his power as a filmmaker and celebrity by distributing this film into nations where children are groomed from the earliest age to hate American culture, and as adults, to despise the very liberty and freedoms that makes it possible for Moore to produce his films. Its a risky venture potentially undermining our efforts both diplomatically and militarily, endangering our military, our country and our reputation. That he would consider doing this when we are a country at war, within the borders of the very country in which we are at war seems irresponsible at best".
Citizens born in the United Stated tend to take freedom for granted. Those who have actually lived under oppressive rule know the true value and responsibility of speaking your mind. There is a social responsibility that comes with voicing your opinions publicly. It would seem Moore hasnt recognized the long-term implications and impact a film of this nature can have on these regions of the world" observes Reyto. Moore puts our United States at potential risk by spreading the message of Fahrenheit 9/11 into the hands of our terrorist enemies. Without hope there is no tomorrow. My life is dedicated to inspiration, turning adversity into strength and success, and finding courage to be optimistic about the future" says Reyto, a worthy and prolific cause in these turbulent times. Borne of the struggle to realize and achieve freedom, Reytos missive takes a stance in protecting freedom as we know it, turning adversity into strength and sensibility, asking Moore to re-think the international distribution of Fahrenheit 9/11.
