Osceola Residents Set New Record for Electricity Use

The new record of 296.8 megawatts (MW) was set at 2:48 pm on June 25, 2004, surpassing the old mark of 295.4 MW set on May 26.

KISSIMMEE, FL (PRWEB) June 30, 2004 -- Customer demand for electricity in Osceola County set a new record on June 25. More electricity was used on Friday afternoon than at any other time in Kissimmee Utility Authority's 103-year history!
    
A new record of 296.8 megawatts (MW) was set at 2:48 pm on Friday, surpassing the old mark of 295.4 MW set on May 26. The temperature at the time of the peak was 95 degrees.
    
A megawatt represents the amount of electricity required to serve approximately 650 homes.
    
Customers are typically using more power during this period of hot weather and higher than normal electric bills can be expected. Even with the increased demand, KUA has sufficient energy and capacity to continue providing safe and reliable electric service to its customers without interruption.
    
Continuing high temperatures in Florida could cause KUA customers to set another new demand record this weekend.
