New Service Improves Communications Between Patients and Healthcare Providers
Using the new CCSHealth service from Data One Solutions, patients can now communicate with their healthcare providers securely via the Internet. They can request an office appointment or a prescription refill, ask their doctor or one of the nurses a question or view their latest test results online. CCSHealth provides a secure and convenient, alternate method of communications between patients and their health care providers using a simple and easy to use web site that is available anytime and from virtually any location in the world.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 30, 2004 -- Smaller healthcare offices, previously not able to provide online access can now offer their patients the ability to request office appointments, prescription refills, view test results or simply communicate with their office staff over the Internet using the newly released CCSHealth service.
CCSHealth is not a replacement for existing scheduling or patient records systems. It simply provides a secure and convenient, alternate method of communications between patients and their health care providers. It prevents long waits on hold for patients and also reduces time wasted by staff playing telephone tag when attempting to return calls.
Office staff and patients connect to the central CCSHealth server over the Internet using a secure communications connection. The technical term is called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and uses a combination of encryption and authentication to insure all communications between the client and the server remain secure and is the same technology used for online banking. All data is maintained within a secure environment on the CCSHealth servers to insure compliance with HIPAA privacy requirements while also providing a permanent electronic record of exactly what has been communicated.
Patients initiate most communications. Staff members will then take whatever action is appropriate for the patient's request and then reply to the patient's message by clicking the reply button provided. The system automatically generates an email message to the patient to notify them that they have received a reply message. The patient clicks on a link within the email and they are taken to the CCSHealth system using a secure Internet connection and prompted for their password. If the correct password is provided, they will be automatically logged into the CCSHealth system and immediately presented with the reply message.
CCSHealth is an ASP based service provided by Data One Solutions, Inc. and requires no hardware or software installation by healthcare providers or their patients. It is provided as a free service to patients and as a monthly subscription service to providers starting at $135.00 per month. More information is available at http://www.ccshealth.com and includes a fully operational demonstration site.
