Asian American Heritage Council of New Jersey Honors M. Nasim Ali, Executive Vice President, SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company, Inc., with Business Achievement Award
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) July 1, 2004 -- M. Nasim Ali, executive vice president, marketing and sales at SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company, Inc., has been awarded the Business Achievement Award by the Asian American Heritage Council of New Jersey (AAHC) for the year 2004.
The AAHC, which is based in New Jersey, aims to unite diverse Asian American communities and help local members realize their aspirations. The award was presented at the organizations recent annual GALA, which it holds to celebrate Asian American heritage and culture. The festivities included the acknowledgment of individuals in the Asian American community for their achievement in the areas of business/professionalism, community service, the arts, and youth excellence.
It is a great honor to recognize Mr. Ali for his achievements in business as well as the other award recipients for their achievements," said Peter M. Suzuki, president of the AAHC. We are fortunate to have such dedicated and talented persons living and working in New Jersey."
The business/professionalism award was given to Mr. Ali in recognition of his success in the insurance industry and his steadfast dedication to the enrichment of the Asian American Community. Mr. Ali has a rich history of accomplishments in the field of financial services, and has helped propel SBLI USA to new heights since joining the company in 1999. He recently was appointed as Commissioner of the New Jersey Governors Asian American Commission by Governor James E. McGreevey to help meet the communitys growing needs.
To receive this award from the Asian American Heritage Council is a true privilege. I applaud the AAHC for its admirable diligence and continued commitment to working for the Asian American community of New Jersey," said Mr. Ali. Thanks to its unwavering efforts, we have made great strides in meeting the growing needs of the community. I am proud to share the goals of this reputable organization, and am honored to accept this award."
The AAHC works to serve the Asian American community through both politics and recreational events that promote an overall sense of Asian American unity. The group specifically targets the Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Asian Indian, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Malaysian, and Thai communities. According to the AAHC, there are over a half million Asian Americans in New Jersey, yet only two out of 395 Superior Court judges in the state are Asian American. This is just one issue about which the AAHC seeks to raise awareness.
Mr. Ali has been a pioneer in marketing financial services to the Asian, Latino, and African-American communities in the tri-state area. As an actuary with a strong background in the areas of market research and business development, he has been instrumental in SBLI USAs successful conversion to a mutual company and its subsequent national expansion and product and geographic diversification.
A native of Bangladesh and an American citizen, Mr. Ali holds a bachelors degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. His impressive background and extensive commitment to servicing his community on behalf of SBLI USA have provided him with the drive and vision necessary to be a true asset to the multi-cultural community.
