New York, NY (PRWEB) July 2, 2004 -- Psychedelic flower power" hearses toured New York City on Tuesday, June 29th as part of the Boomer Coalitions ongoing effort to lay to rest" the scourge of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), which claims more lives annually than guns, cancer, drunk driving and AIDS combined. As part of a provocative nationwide movement to raise the consciousness of the nearly 80 million boomers in this country, Boomer Coalition pallbearers" distributed Boomer Coalition/CVD brochures encouraging boomers to sign up at boomercoalition.org and join the fight against CVD. Dr. Archie Roberts, noted cardiac surgeon, ex NFL quarterback and one of the founders of the Boomer Coalition was on hand with other former NFL players Gary Burley (Atlanta Falcons) and Don Ratliff (Philadelphia Eagles) to talk about their battles with CVD and offer tips on what Americans can do to prevent the disease.

The daylong procession" included stops at key pedestrian traffic points throughout Manhattan, including Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, The Plaza Hotel, Union Square and Soho. Some 10,000 Boomer Coalition/CVD brochures were distributed throughout the 12-hour tour.

Through a series of high profile national buzz events the Boomer Coalition is using the language of music and entertainment to raise awareness of this highly prolific but preventable disease. They include regional boomer rallies, an online exhibit and auction of denim art" created by celebrities and a monumental concert in NYC bringing together some of the greatest artists in music and entertainment planned for November, 2004.
