Premier Telemedicine systems integrator ViTel Net demonstrated its leading-edge Tele-Echocardiography solution in a live presentation for President George W. Bush. President Bush attended a media event June 24, 2004, at the Department of Commerce in Washington DC, focused on how innovation and technologies from organizations like ViTel Net can enhance the nations economic competitiveness and improve healthcare for all Americans.

McLean, VA (PRWEB) July 6, 2004 -- Premier Telemedicine systems integrator ViTel Net, in conjunction with Childrens National Medical Center, demonstrated its leading-edge Tele-Echocardiography solution in a live presentation for the President of the United States George W. Bush.

President Bush attended a media event June 24, 2004, at the Department of Commerce in Washington DC, focused on how innovation and technologies from organizations like ViTel Net can enhance the nations economic competitiveness and improve healthcare for all Americans.

Dr. Craig Sable, Director of Echocardiography at Childrens National Medical Center, performed the Telemedicine demonstration for the President and other government dignitaries in attendance. Describing the MedVizerTM Tele-Echocardiography solution, Dr. Sable explained, We have partnered with our vendor, ViTel Net, to create an integrated viewing and reporting system that allows for maximal efficiency."

Regularly performing Tele-Echocardiogram consultations at Childrens Hospital with MedVizer Telemedicine technology, Dr. Sable said, Our use of Telemedicine with Echocardiography...over the last six years has resulted in recommending life saving cardiac surgery for dozens of children."

President Bush intently observed the live demonstration involving a five-year-old child who was born with a life threatening heart condition at one of the referring hospitals currently using the MedVizer Telemedicine technology.

The Childrens National Medical Centers Echocardiography system is currently connected to seven community hospitals spanning a distance of over 300 miles, performing over 2,000 Tele-Cardiology consultations. Elimination of unnecessary helicopter transport and prolonged hospital stays in [cardiac] patients has resulted in savings of millions of dollars," explained Dr. Sable.

Thanks to early diagnosis, the pediatric patient in the live demonstration underwent successful heart surgery in the first week of life and is now doing well. [Dr. Sable] was able to...scan on the little guy's heart, and...assure the mom that [her son] who had a heart operation when he was a young child is doing well," commented President Bush.

ViTel Net has made cardiac care that much easier and more accessible for many young heart patients in need. ViTel Net's Tele-Echocardiography solution supports the important work of Childrens National Medical Center with remote diagnostic-quality imaging and real-time and store-and-forward consultations.

Using MedVizer Tele-Echocardiography, a sonographer or referring physician transfers echocardiogram-clips, full motion videos, and still images to a consulting cardiologist like Dr. Sable, who can examine a patients heart hands-free" with remote control cameras and medical device selection tools. Once the interpretation is complete, an automated report feature allows the cardiologist to compile the patients diagnosis information to expedite back to the referring facility.

The data, including echo-clips and the doctors interpretation, is stored in the patients electronic medical record, connecting patients and clinicians in an effective health monitoring solution. The electronic record format eliminates paperwork and streamlines patient care, quickly identifying health issues before they get worse.

After the live demonstration, President Bush said this about Telemedicine; Whether it be cardiology or ear infection-any other aspect of medicine-we'll be able to make sure healthcare is available throughout the country by using this technology. The quality of life for our citizens is going to improve dramatically as we spread this technology all across America."
