The Spirit of America is Alive and Well
The Fourth of July is the time for fireworks, backyard barbecues and parades. Flags are flown, the national anthem sung and a new generation is introduced to the spirit of America. The Virginia Gazette, on July 18th, 1777, had this to say about the holiday: Thus may the 4th of July, that glorious and ever memorable day, be celebrated through America, by the sons of freedom, from age to age till time shall be no more. Amen and Amen."
(PRWEB) July 4, 2004 -- The Fourth of July is the time for fireworks, backyard barbecues and parades. Amen and Amen." In recent years, patriotism in America has increased, possibly as a result of the increasing threats from terrorism and the September 11th attacks on our country. Whatever the reasons, it is time for us all to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy as Americans and to be thankful for those freedoms. Author Helene OShea has done her part in creating a bit of Americana with her new book, titled A Handful of Prisms.
Helene OShea is a native of Springfield, Illinois and is the eighth child of ten, a family size that is almost unheard of in todays world. She grew up on a farm in the 1940s and 50s and writes of her familys adventures. This collection of hilarious escapades brings back a strong sense of family and fun that is often missing in our fast paced, high stress, technology-based lifestyle. In an attempt to bring her own family back to their roots and allow her grandchildren to know their relatives, OShea has written a story that will capture the heart of anyone who enjoys a great story, filled with humor and quick wit. Their family was not rich in the worldly possessions that so many of us crave today, but they were wealthy in the bonds that they created with each other during their younger years. This book will leave you laughing and remind you of the importance of a simpler, more spontaneous life.
On this Fourth of July holiday, watch the children in your lives run through the sprinklers, eat a juicy piece of watermelon and revel in getting to stay up past their bedtime to watch the fireworks. When the celebration is done, pick up this great new book that will keep the spirit of America alive in your heart, long past the Fourth of July holiday.
