Helping Teens Have a Future

What is the number one cause of death in teenagers? It is not guns. It is not drugs. It is traffic accidents! We have a new program that we hope will change that.

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) July 5, 2004 -- In a bid to put a dent in the nations horrifying teenage driving statistics, Georgia-based Paramedics Against Irresponsible Drivers has launched a program that allows parents to monitor their teens driving.

Motor vehicle accidents are the #1 cause of death among teenagers. A teen dies on our roads every 94 minutes. As the death toll rises, lawmakers across the land scramble to get stricter laws governing new drivers on the books and worried parents search for solutions that will protect their children. Officials at P.A.I.D. say there is no one solution, but believe that to bring about a change in the statistics, more parental and community involvement is necessary.

The program, which allows vehicles to be monitored while driving anywhere in the United States, is designed not only to curb reckless drivers, but also to help drivers who are merely inexperienced or have difficulty fending off peer pressure. It is the same type of program that has been used for years on trucks and other commercial vehicles. These programs have proven themselves by significantly reducing the number of accidents (30%) and traffic citations (50%) for those vehicles, and P.A.I.D. fully expects the same results for teen drivers.

P.A.I.D. is also offering a similar program for judges, prosecutors, and probation officers that will allow them to monitor the driving of offenders who come before them in court. This is being done in an effort to reduce the recidivism rate of traffic offenders.
