Time to Tailor Your Resume!

The economy is showing signs of a strong recovery. Job creation is soon to follow. Make sure your resume is ready to succeed in the new world of internet and online employment searches.

(PRWEB) July 5, 2004 -- The economy is showing signs of a strong recovery. Job creation is soon to follow. Make sure your resume is ready to succeed in the new world of internet and online employment searches.

With most positions being advertised and responded to online, the process of applying for a position is becoming easier all the time. Due to the ease of applying for a position, a hiring manager receives an average of 27, sometimes as many as 200 applicants for a given position. The Michigan based resume service TailoredResume.com recommends job seekers take the necessary steps to get their resume noticed. In the digital age its more critical than ever to have a resume that stands out from the crowd. You should have your resume in two formats, one for emailing and one for posting on electronic job boards. When emailing your resume you should always use .doc format. Regardless of how you feel about MS Word, the software is the accepted standard in the business community. Most third party word processors have built in converters to be sure they can open .doc documents. If you email your resume in .pdf, .zip or another format, your resume may not be able to be automatically scanned into the companys database, effectively eliminating you from future job opportunities. Use an ASCII version of your resume for posting on job boards. If you try to use your .doc format resume on a job board, the fancy formatting will be lost and your resumes alignment may not be correct giving the impression you are not computer literate.

TailoredResume.com suggests you set up an email address specifically used for your job search. Keep it professional -- no supergenius@domain.com" type email addresses. When emailing your resume, the subject line is critical. DO NOT use a crafty subject line like Top Producer" or Numerous Patents". Instead, use your present or previous title along with your strongest industry -- example: Product Engineer -- Automotive Industry". Customize the subject line to make it relevant for the company with the opening. Modern job hunting tools like resume delivery (www.resumexposure.com) and resume posting services such as (www.resumerabbit.com) can jump start your job search.
