Holy Land Author Maria Khoury to Speak in Fort Wayne
The dwindling Christian community is alone and caught in the middle of the Intifada. Author Maria Khoury speaks about the daily realities and dangers of current life in the West Bank and Israel.
Fort Wayne, IN (PRWEB) July 7, 2004 -- Maria C. Khoury, author, educator and resident of the last remaining 100% Christian village in the West Bank, Taybeh, will speak at 12:30 pm on August 8, 2004 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 110 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne on "The Dwindling Christian Population of the Holy Land".
Khoury (nee Kouremenou) relocated with her husband to Taybeh in 1995 after the Oslo Accords in order to contribute to the rebuilding of the local economy in the West Bank. Her most well-known work is "Witness in the Holy Land", a collection of over seventy articles written from a human interest perspective describing daily life in the Holy Land.
Currently on a publicity tour for her Christian education book series for children, Khoury is also fund-raising for the Taybeh village housing project, designed to provide jobs and housing for residents of Taybeh, who are caught in the crossfire of the current intifada.
Khoury will speak about life as a Christian during the current conflict, answer questions about the Holy Land and sign books from 12:30 - 3:00 pm. The event is sponsored by St. John Chrysostom Eastern Orthodox Church of Fort Wayne.
